Prodotti Tipici

Tra uno scenario antico, dolce e aspro al tempo stesso, gli antichi sapori della gastronomia raccontano le tradizioni di questa regione. 
Dal punto di vista paesaggistico le coltivazioni della vite e dell’olivo caratterizzano la fascia preappennica di questo territorio e contribuiscono, con le forme e le simbologie che sono loro proprie, ad evocare e a far percepire un’atmosfera del tutto particolari. Le piante di olivo ricoprono e caratterizzano le colline ed il paesaggio Umbro, conferendogli il caratteristico colore grigio-verde. Gli abitanti trasformano questo indimenticabile affresco in un altrettanto indimenticabile prodotto: l’Olio extravertgine di Oliva Umbro.
 
L’area che gravita intorno al territorio di Massa Martana presenta condizioni ottimali per la viticoltura e per l’olivicoltura tanto che le produzioni della zona hanno ottenuto per i vini il riconoscimento della DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) “Colli Martani” e delle IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) “Umbria” e “Colli Martani” e per l’olio extra vergine il riconoscimento della DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta)  "Colli Martani".
 
La loro qualità ben si accompagna a una gastronomia che offre piatti semplici, genuini, gustosi e legati alla tradizione. Oltre all'olio e al vino il territorio offre il gusto di funghi tartufi ed asparagi di bosco raccolti sui Monti Martani, nonchè prodotti legati alla cucina locale, semplice e genuina: legumi, cereali, formaggi e miele. Anche il territorio di Massa Martana presenta una forte cultura del maiale, lavorato in casa secondo una tradizione molto antica nel periodo invernale. Si conclude con i dolci, di diversi tipi, che sono semplici e di antica tradizione e tipico dell'area, la nociata, torrone prodotto nell'area umbro-laziale ma che qui ha una lunga tradizione.
